It
all started in Tallahassee, Florida. The Rally in Tally was the catalyst
for a small group of women who enjoyed riding their motorcycles to form
a local chapter of Chrome Divas. Wanting to offer a non-stereotypical
group of women riders, membership was deemed open to all women riders,
bike brand or even ownership was not necessary. The primary goal is
to give a new name for female bikers. Not an MC (Motorcycle Club) and
not sporting colors, the Divas are a national female motorcycle organization.
Flourishing
locally in its first year, the Tallahassee chapter led to chapters forming
throughout Florida. By the end of the second year, chapters were forming
all over the States and Canada. To reach out and meet other women riders,
plan rides and get-togethers was a primary objective with community
involvement an emphasis.
The
Tallahassee Chapter found that many members were eager to participate
in the community. The Breast Cancer Poker Run, now an annual event on
the first Sunday in October, was the first event. Many other worthwhile
events have been held and have led to meeting many wonderful people.
Meeting those families whose lives they touch is reward enough. Breast
cancer survivors, diabetic children, and our troops are just a few of
those the Divas feel blessed to have met. As the organization and worthwhile
causes grow, so do the number of lives they touch.
The Chrome Divas encourage
all women who enjoy motorcycles to join. Each chapter is encouraged
to hold or participate in community events. All chapters have numerous
community events under their belts, which are chronicled on the chapter
web sites. Fortunate they are, who have so many women combine their
community work and love of motorcycles to give such a positive name
to Chrome Divas.
